Guardians of the lungs

Just like railway guards used to oversee crossings and keep train traffic running smoothly, the lungs has its own guardians to block harmful substances and pathogens.

Nose hairs filter large particles like dust and dirt from inhaled air.

The nasal mucosa and airways produce sticky mucus in which harmful substances and pathogens get trapped and are pushed out by tiny hair-like structures called cilia.

In our alveoli, immune cells are active and neutralize intruders.

Your respiratory system is like a well-organized railway security service!
